I purchased 2 other items before buying this one. The first 2 failed to deter my dog from barking. Both of the first 2 items were humane ultrasonic devices. As a last resort, I bought this item and it has solved all my problems. My dog is finally learning to behave. She has stopped chewing items she should not. She has stopped jumping on children. She has stopped barking excessively. I issue the sound immediately before the shock. This way she knows she is doing something wrong and that she's about to be punished. Now the sound is enough to make her think twice about what she's going to do. For minor infractions I just issue the sound and she backs away from what she was contemplating. My only complaint is that the range is not as great as listed. The packaging says 75 yards and from what I've experienced it is more like 75 feet, but that is a small flaw that I can overlook after having solved the greater behavioral problems.
